New Mic can't use

I am sort of a newbee when it comes to Audio. I just purhased a Rode NTG-2 Mic for my GL2 Cam. My question is this: The mic did not come with any hookups for the GL2. What do I need to get to use the mic to do interviews at weddings? what plugs and wires do I need to buy? Where can I buy a adaptor to go from XLR to my mic input?

Thanks for any help. Wed-site to where I can buy the stuff will be a big help

Hi,

I could paste my dealer here but the link would be removed (plus it is in Europe). Finding a short (0.5m) XLR cable is not too difficult. Browse the recommended sponsor links, sure you will find one soon.

I had the same problem, as I took it for granted that the mic will come with the cable, which turned out to be wrong..:)
I am not sure what kind of connectors do you have as I use Sony cam, mine has XLR ins.

We needed extra XLRs etc to make splitters and such and found Best Buys (the electronics store) had what we needed.

I'd suggest you take your kit there and get the parts you need.

The best bet is one of the XLR-mini adapters from Beachtek or Sign Video.

The Rode NTG-2 is excellent and provides an even hotter signal when you use phantom power instead of the AA internal battery. If you go the route of an adapter box such as Beachtek or the others, I recommend one that supports phantom power. You don't have to use it but you will then have the option. Canon makes a non-phantom power XLR adapter specifically for the GL2 that also holds the mic which you didn't mention how you were going to solve. It attaches to the hot shoe. If you have an onboard light then the Canon adapter won't do. These issues are all design points in the next up level of camcorders.
