Exercise Video

Anyone have any experiences with audio for an exercise video - instructor talking while doing exercise routines, aerobics etc? Mic recommendations, technique recommendations, etc.

Record music seperately? bring in from cd in post?

Small budget shoot.

Exercise video

Mike,
I recently shot a short exercise video for a client (also a small budget shoot). I used a Countryman B3 Senn G2 wireless lav set-up via a SD302 to my Greg Winter'd VX2100. If the mic is OK to be seen, I'd recommend a Countryman (over the ear) E6; has the advantage that the mic stays set distance from the mouth at all times.. excellent sound quality
The folks in the video were not exercising to music; I added a Royalty Free track in post..
I used 2 Omnis and a Pro to light the folks + some daylight + some fluorescents + judicious white balance.
Hope this helps.
Rgds, Ross.

Hi,

If you bring music in from CD, will it sync?

Unless the instructor does a LOT of moving around, I'd suggest a headworn mic.

Regards,

Ty
