Smartsound ?

Hi,

Just tested the demo of Sonic Fire Smartsound ( www.smartsound.com ). This tool can automatically build soundtracks for your video and you can enhance it with new soundlibraries for different occasions / moods. You work with a timeline on which you see the video, than you can tie sounds/effects on the timeline and fade them etc

Anyone here that uses this tool ? thoughts?

Are their any other good tools like this?

Are there any good sites on the net that offers free sounds? Like handclapping, closing door, accelerating car etc etc?

Best regards,

Lazze Z

I too have used the demo and was very impressed. However, it seems that Final Cut Pro 4 will incorporate many of those features and I am holding off until I update to FCP4 and can evaluate it's features.

Do a search for sound effects libraries, they have been covered in the past.

I've used SmartSound for about ,Hmmmm, maybe 4 years???
I can't remember. It was packaged with an NLE I bought back then. Some of it is pretty cheeezy but some is also pretty good stuff and they have a number of new palettes out now.

i guess im of the old school, but i dont like using things like this.
Mind you i understand that not every video producer has the same setup as i do (Music Studio) but i ususlly create my own fills as i watch the footage capture (or create the fill as i edit...)
I feel that little extra work gives it a piece of "me" and my individuality comes out into the project in a more profound manner...

I dont think preset tracks are copout, but in all honesty, the fact that these smartsounds are readily available to everyone doesnt really make tehm all that unique.

Acid is a good alternative, but in the end your still messing with other peoples loops...

another alternative, (which is something ive been tryin to push down here in aus) is to ask a local muso to give u a hand and write some tracks for you.
this provides them with some exposure and its free music for you.
You both win.
