Wireless AT U100 or ATW 1800? Which one would you pick?
 

If you were on the market which one would you pick? What pros/cons do you see between the two systems? (aside from the US$500 diff & space savings)

I got the 1800.

-- One less box to mount on the camera.
-- Helps select quiet channels quickly. Not perfectly flawless but it does provide a good starting point most of the time.
-- LCD displays are easier to read than a tiny screwdriver-driven control when it comes to changing channels.
-- Higher output means a more solid signal when the transmitters are hidden beneath thick clothing.
-- Uses AA batteries instead of 9v.

I still have the 100's but am considering selling one of them.

Thanks Dean, that's great feedback. How did you mount the 1800?

I have a shoulder mount for my HVX-200. And on the back of the shoulder mount I made a simple plexiglas box that bolts on, and the 1800 slides into the box.

The inside of the box is lined with velcro just so that the 1800 is sliding against the nylon pile and not getting scratched against the hard plexiglas walls. It also provides some security against the 1800 from just falling out of the box.

The 1800, especially if you're camera mounting the receiver.

Right, is it possible to buy either of these systems in the United Kingdom? I've posted elsewhere about this but got zero, please there must be someone in the UK who owns one of these or knows where to get hold of them online, I'm tearing my hair out lol. Thanks

Aha nice one, thank-you very much Michael. Hmm..it seems like a costly system at first but I suppose it's two receivers in one and I would have to buy two Senn G2 systems to do the same thing which then shows the true relative cost. It looks pretty cool too, if that can be said for a wireless mic system
