Tokina SL 24 24mm F2.8 lens

I just picked up a Tokina SL 24 24mm F2.8 lens for $50. The lens is in good condition. No appearent flaws, dings, or scratches.

The instruction manual indicates that "the aperture will remain open for focusing. When the shutter is released the lens will stop down to the set aperature (f stop) setting".

So.... I cant adjust the aperature... it's going to be stuck wide open. I'll have to use the aperture dial on the LetusXL.

Does anyone see any issues or problems using this lens like this?

Thanks...

There may be a little lever sticking out in the back of the lens mount. If the lens has an otherwise adjustable aperture (iris) ring control, it may be possible to re-instate this by wedging the lever open against its spring pressure.

Make sure this lens is not a digital only lens as digital lenses may have a hot spot on your adaptor.

An f2.8 lens wide-open may yield a softer image than you may like.

Bob-

Thanks for the information. I'll check it out now... and will get back to you.

Bob-

I found no lever. Perhaps this model does not have it or I'm just missing it.

I like the look the lens gives. However, not being able to control the aperture is a real disadvantage.

Tim.

I have assumed maybe incorrectly it is a Nikon mount Tokina. Nikons are where my knowledge comes to an end. Sorry I can't help furthur on this one.
