It is an amazing video. But it has far too little resolution to reveal any advantages over the many solutions out on this forum.

Any decent adapter with a good latitude camcorder and a NLE with colour grading ability can produce these images.

The video itself, however, is a magnificent work of art, IMO.

I think that video is an older file and not a new vid to represent the new Cinemek adapter.

I wonder if it is the same guys as before doing it or someone new. I always wondered if there was a legal issue going on with the adapter back when John first introduced it because he brought it out in BETA form and then we heard nothing about it for a long time until now.

i have that video at full 720p. it is even more convincing at full res.

They've had demos and pre-orders up for a long time. This doesn't look like it's "back" but merely a redesign of what was already there and a FAQ section answering some really simplistic questions.

I've been speaking to Jonathan recently and it IS back. The e-mail with the passcode for the people who originaly made the orders was already sent and the first units should be shipping soon.

Been awhile ...

since I've had any news on this static adaptor ... good to see some advancement ... but what does it costs at this point?

Dean Harrington August 26th, 2008 08:02 PM

cinemek G35 ...

cost: $1,349.00 USD for 3 components. The modular nature of the adaptor is very well done!
The problem as I see it is that the EX1 component is out of stock ??? There are no recent examples of video quality ... no examples of clarity at different f-stops ... nothing on culmination for back focus ... very little information on the unit?
Generally, the people there have responded to emails ... I just wish they'd put out more info on the adaptor.

David Chia August 27th, 2008 12:44 AM

From what I can see is that it shoots upside down, it is a Static adapter and the footage on the website are from a long time ago when they first started out. (totally different adapter to the one that they are currently selling...)

Dean Harrington August 29th, 2008 04:52 AM

upside down is OK ...

Upside down is OK. I'll be using an EX3, convergent design nanno (it has a flip function on the unit) and cinemek said they were getting one together for the EX1/3. My main concern is at what speeds do you see the grain? I'd love to see a grainless GG but as far as I know there isn't one ... hence, the fast spinning GG with good boken to this point is as good as it gets. The idea of having three separate parts to the unit is a good idea. It lets the makers put out components for different needs.

They do need to get recent footage out there and answer questions. I've asked them about my concerns but they don't really answer questions except about general things ... at least they are talking and that's something.
