Letus Extreme with Indiefocus Rails too tight

Along this same line, I cant get the Letus Extreme support bracket to mount on my carbon fiber Indiefocus rails. Anyone else having this problem? Not sure if it's the rails or the Letus support.

I've got the same setup and no problem - are you saying the LEX bracket won't fit on to the rails? or that it won't support the LEX?

It's so tight that I had to use a hammer to get it onto the rails at all. I'd like to move it further but I'm afraid I'll break the rails.

Is your's positioned the same as mine?

It will support it, but the knobs loosen pretty easily.

Thanks

I have the same problem, although not to the point of hammering it on. Mine is super tight but nevertheless reaches its position under the Letus. The problem comes after, with the Indifocus, because the front end of the rails converges in a way that I have to open the Indifocus slider-support (don't know how it's called), force the lower part to fit the rails and then screw the upper part with the rest of the mechanism.

sounds really weird - I'm not having a problem at all.

I got the indifocus rails & Follow focus & Lex - the only problem I had was the weight distribution and Tim sent me an extra mount that works the same as the cavision setup.

When you say it's too tight is it :

the diameter of the holes in the LEX support that don't fit the rails or..

the distance that the holes are set apart that does not match the indirails.

They should be standard 15mm rods and everything should fit

Stathis Athanasiou January 24th, 2008 08:14 AM

The diameter of the holes is fine. The distance between them is just a bit smaller than it should, causing the rails to converge ever so slightly, but enough to make the indifocus installation problematic.
I tried putting the indifocus without the LEX support and there was no problem.

It seems like the diameter of the holes or the tubes. I'm away so I can't check.

okay here's my setup being setup - I don't know that it will help. I'm not sure what's wrong, perhaps the Letus mount has slight manufacturing variations - or the Indifocus rails do.

Hi guys - Just interested in finding out how you're going with the tight rails - any solution?

did my example help? do you want me to make any measurements of my rig?

David Chia February 27th, 2008 03:59 AM

you can try to file the rods down to 15mm , ask a local machinery to do it for you. It just takes some sand paper .

Problem is that most companies have variations . Not all are standard 15mm. some 15.2 some 15.05 some 15.1

Indie gears have a open clamp design. that is why it will fit rods that are slightly bigger or smaller. Where as Chroziels, Arri ,Redrock have a 15mm hole design. and it can only fit extacly 15mm gears. I tried once to fit my chroziel follow focus unit on a 15mm rod sold by cavision and it fits perfectly, but the same will not happen for the rods of another company.

Variations of more then 0.1mm makes the differenes
