"Winter Solstice" video w/LEX and V1U

My first full video with the Letus 35 Extreme.

I've learned alot since then and have some new lenses. Hope to shoot another soon. This one is not color graded at all. Just straight out of the camera footage for those who like to see that. Shot with a Sony V1U in 30p.

Very cool. I wish I had the $$ to drop on one of those. Were you using a steadicam for some of the shots, or a dolly system (like the shot of the faucet)?

Paul Frederick April 11th, 2008 06:58 AM

Thanks Travis, no dolly or steadycam, the 35-70 lens has a macro mode, so I was just inches away from them, and as you pan the lens is acting like a dolly since you are so close to it!

Very cool. I had a feeling it was a pan since I didn't see any other shots that looked like a dolly or steadicam, but that one sure did. Again, nice work.

I just re-loaded the clip in HD. It looks much better now! This was my first time putting something on Vimeo, so I had to recompress to their suggested specs. Now, if you watch the HD version especially, it looks much cleaner.

It's a great feature on there that you can re-load a video without losing any of the info!

Oh yeah, this one is color graded with some vignette added to some shots. The blacks were elevated a bit somehow along the way, but it still looks WAY better then before.

Well done Paul. Very nice photography and overall production. I'm waiting for my letus35 mini (to be paired with a Sony A1U) and can't wait to get started after seeing your short. Cheers.

Thanks Tony, you are going to LOVE shooting with it! I've been shooting for 20 years and have never had such fun since I got the LEX. You see things in a whole new way. I've been using it for alot of interviews and it really excels at that! You no longer have to be across the room zoomed all the way in to get DOF.

Post some stuff when you get it up and running!
