Am I supposed to zoom in this far?

I just got my Letus Extreme...

I'm using a friend's old manual focus Nikon E series 50mm 1:1.8 (model #2662544).... and I only get a small circle of image that fills up half of the GG in diameter. I have to zoom in extremely far in order to get past any vignetting (or black spots.) Is this supposed to happen? I tried a 35mm lens afterwards, and it was a bit better (the circle of incoming light was slightly larger.)

Is this all normal? Or am I supposed to see a full-frame GG?

... or perhaps I am not explaining my problem very clearly?

hi Julian

You do have to zoom quite far in. What camera are you using? On my EX1 I normally zoom to z80.

Also if you see a circle in the center that propably means your Nikon lens is not open wide. Keep it at f1.8.

ps. theres some good hints how to get best results in this thread: http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?t=118197

I'm using the XHA1. And, yes, the lens is fully open at f1.8 but i still see a circle.

That other thread wasn't *too* helpful, but I appreciate the suggestion.

Got it all figured out... looks as if you simply cannot shoot with the Letus in ultra-low light :-D
