Letus35 XLv2 to JVC HD110 Conversion
 

Is it possible to convert the mount on my Letus35 XLv2 to work on my JVC HD110?
Any DIYer's out there that have any ideas on this?
Would this adapter be capable of producing quality footage on an HDV camera?

Anything is possible, a matter therefore of the will to make it happen. From a practical standpoint, you have difficulties that only an email reply from Quyen will resolve.

The XL family and JVC HD--- family direct relay versions both used a Minolta 50mm SLR camera lens with an unmounted achromatic dioptre attached to the front of the Minolta lens with a firm flexible adhesive bond.

This does not need to be disturbed, however the adaptor mount is another matter.

Some parts of the rear of the Minolta lens appear to have been removed and the video camcorder mount substituted. The XL mount needs to come off to be replaced and also for reference dimensions to be obtained for making the JVC substitute.

There are some visible screws inside but whether these retain the new mount or are part of another subassembly, I do not know and have not bothered to investigate. The mount has never loosened.

I wonder if there has been any adhesive used to immobilise the join as these visible screws are tiny, are almost impossible to access and therefore likely to loosen if they are part of the mount to lens body joint without some other method of fixing also used.

Without advice from Quyen, attempts to extract the XL mount off the back of the Minolta lens could be destructive and it may be the joint was intended to be a permanent one.
