DOF and Subject distance

This is for you folks who use a DOF adapter.

I have been toying with the parts, and had "some" success.

What I am wondering is, how close are you to your subjects, when using this adapter, mounted on your cameras?

Are you also adjusting the fstop on your camera, to give you even more light, coming in?

If I am in close, to a subject, and this works pretty well, but, when I am outdoors and an object is far away and focused at infinity, my forground is out of focus, as it should be, and I then focus on something close, the distant object is not as out of focus, as I think an object at that distance should be.

When working at f1.7, I was thinking the DOF would be shallow, but it is not showing up that way.

My Optura, the original one, does this without the adapter, better than with the adapter.
The only drawback with this, is, I am stuck at 1/60, where I would rather have control, and shoot at a slower speed.

So again my question, how close are you to your subject, when working with the adapter?

In order to give a decent answer to your question, more information about the lens is needed. What kind of lens is it, focal length, etc.?

But generally speaking, lenses with longer focal lengths, wide aperature settings, and close camera-to-subject distances give the Shallowest Depth of Field.
