Best way to shoot 16:9 with the adapter

What is the best way to shoot 16:9 with the 400 adapter? The film lenses I've looked into are 2.35:1 and very expensive to rent. Anyone have a lower cost solution?

For the last project I worked on with the mini35 we added a matte in post, losing 25% resolution when played back on a 16:9 display/screen.
