5 micron WAO

Hi all,

i,m new to this forum and i have a question.(dumb maybe for most of you guys).

Thanks in advance

Listen to better advice than mine when it comes along as soon it shall. In meantime my understanding is :-

WAO is white aluminium oxide powder, an abrasive capable of wearing down glass. 5 micron refers to it having been graded into 5 micron size and some smaller particles.

I can't help with the Type D focussing screen but it may be some form of fine groundglass onto which a camera lens image is normally projected for viewing by eye to enable focusing etc., the TTL or through-the-lens viewfinder

Hey there,

Here's a page with some info on Nikon focusing screens

http://www.nikonlinks.com/unklbil/screens.htm

the Type D is described thus

"Type D: Overall fine-ground matte field."

Others seem to have crosshairs, different focusing points and the like. It would seem it's just a straight focusing screen.

Hope this helps.

Raavin :)
