GG Letus Elite

Hello,

I recently noticed a lot of noise on the footage of my Letus Setup. I've noticed it in both 24fps and 60fps. The latter being more annoying, since you can see it swirling around. I've never had this before and since I have opened my Letus on many occasions to clean various specs of dust out, I once again ventured in and decided to try and solve this problem. The ground glass didn't look evenly ground to me, so being brave and using some skills I obtained back in the Agus35 days I decided to grind the glass at 500 mesh, which didn't yeild the best results - I'll probably try 1600 mesh if I can find a source for it. Although now I'm thinking it might be the vibration motor. I remember when I first bought it and it seemed to vibrate much stronger, to the point where I could feel it when I held the camera. I'm not sure if it's just that i have got used to it, but these days it seems a little weak. Does anyone have any experience with the vibration motor weakening? Also, have any of you tried your own or commercial focusing screens with the Letus adapter?

Thanks

Check the firmness of the motor in the carrier panel. The end cover on the motor might have loosened a little and might be allowing movement of the motor body itself which is then not translated into movement of the panel. This fault might also cause the motor to run slower or erratically if intermittant commutator brush contact is occurring or the bearing is loading up with the bending movement.

If the motor itself is flexing, you might be able to stabilise it by adding some hard glue to bridge from the carrier panel to the motor body. However this might only be a short term fix. Longer term, you might need to replace the motor if the can body is loose on the end cover.
