Building it for my XL2

I trailed the Agus35 thread when it was first started but i slowly lost track of the homemade mini35 threads. I didnt even realise this topic is moved into a new subforum.

I have looked through the threads here and it seems like the interest seems to be deviated or shifted to other things; which makes me kinda confused.

What I really want is: I just joined this company.. they have XL2s and they have this guy who just loves to build stuff like jib arms.. dollies ... prompter. I told him about the mini35. And he is just itching to build it. My question is .. is there a concrete design for a homemade35 for my guy to base off and build it for our XL2

We can't afford to purchase 1. And it doesnt make economical sense for us to rent it. We nearly never rent any equipment. Basically its 'we buy or we build ... we own it.. we make the money' kind of idea.

Sorry for the long post. Hope you guys can help me out :)

Well im not the swiftest guy on the subject, but i do love depth in my images. I chose to go with the guys at Redrock Micro and use their "Do It Yourself" kit. Basically they give you a guide on how to build a homemade35 (in this case a micro35). They also have a prebuilt version that is very affordable. I believe the most expenisive bundle is around $1,200, then the next one down is around $850 and then $575, which is just the adapter. Big difference from the mini35. It also works with just about any camera (including the XL2).

Check out their site --> http://redrockmicro.com

NOTE: I am not an employee or affiliate of this company nor am i advertising for them, just a customer.

I've been away from the whole assorted mini-35 projects for a while and coming back I'm kinda stunned that there STILL isn't an option for the XL cameras.

Considering they are (I think) the only serious DV cameras out there with the removable lens capabilities that it has I would have thought it would have been one of the first to get a great DIY mini-35 option but it seems not.

so the Micro35 is just an add on for the end of stock canon lens that comes with the XL cameras, right?

You mean, you DON'T like depth in your images. ;-)

Jon,
Have you used the Micro35 Adapter before?.
