Cheap Anamorphic Flare/Streak Filter

Hey guys!

I wanted to share a super-cheap, plugin-free method of getting anamorphic lens flares:

Cheap DIY Anamorphic Lens Flare Filter

There are other ways of going about it, such as etching lines across hard plastic or a glass UV filter, but this one is glass-less so you don't run the risk of softening the image.

Granted, it's probably not something you'll want in every shot... but if you DO want it, it's cheap. ;)

Rotate 90 degrees and can you have a CCD flare via a CMOS sensor? Not that I want to.

Yessir, that is correct.

P.S. I've been away from DVInfo for a while. Glad to see you're still here, Mr. Hart!

Still here. Like a bad smell on a quiet night, I have endured. I still have two AGUS35s in the back shed and bits of plumbing stuff everywhere.

It was a good ride whilst it lasted and we got the groundglass imaging thing evolved pretty much as good as it could get - coming up to 2K practical resolution on a test chart at least.

That single filament is a cool optical trick. It is good to see you are still innovating and still sharing.

Thinking back over the last few years, dvinfo.net has probably caused tech advances on several fronts or at least given them a help along.

If RED and SI2K had not kicked off here and shaken the tree of the big players, I doubt cameras like the C300 and F3 would have fallen into our hands quite as soon as they have.

All the best from here in the West, of Australia.
