Letus35a DVX100a footage
 

30 second clip(s) of footage I'm not using for a short film i'm doing.

Shot on a DVX100a, 24p. Only lighting was natural light, bounced with a reflector (only applies to the third clip)

No colour correction except the very last clip, I bumped contrast and saturation a tad.

You'll notice on the 3rd clip (guy drinking) that there is something on the right hand side... due to the adapter not correctly aligned. Can easily be fixed in post by enlarging the image slightly, but I chose not to use it.

Edit: also to note: compression is sorenson 3, 80% quality. 17mb file. I suck at compression

Looks great, very clean. I'm looking forward to the Letus being available for the HVX200.

May I ask what the difference is between the letus35 and letus35a ?

The download always stops in the middle. I tried different browsers, different connection speeds (mine is a 6 mb broadband), different pcs, but it always stops around 10 or 12 mb. Don't know what's going on. I'd really like to see the footage.

I am currently fooling around with compression. This is H.264 quicktime

I had to increase contrast because when it exported, the image became washed out big time.

Perhaps due to compression, but the video looks a little out of focus and unsharp compared to some other examples that were made with the DVX100.

Those are some pretty ordinary scenes, but the elongation effect and depth of field transform them. I have a question, Lloyd. It looks like you have a really high shutter angle in the first shots where you are doing handheld, walking backwards. Is the lighting really hot, or you just wanted to get that sharp jittery look? What's your f-stop there?

I was doing handheld, trying to make it smooth haha, but it's hard walking backwards. I hit a pole too, which was fun.

this is part of a short film I'm making, and I wanted this segment to be all handheld to give that sense of realism.

I used a 50mm Canon FD 1.8 lens. the Fstop on the DVX was f14. It was a relatively cloudy day, and I boosted the orange glow in-camera.

I believe I shot at a 1/120 shutter speed, don't quote me on that though.

Why did you have the DVX stopped down so far rather than running it wide open or close to wide open?

when the DVX was set to F2.4 or anything around that, everything was blown out.


The aperture doesn't work on my 50mm lens, so it's always at f1.8. I just adjust the iris on the DVX

Your footage looks nice. If you have a minute of free time could you post a pic of the insides of your Letus35a for me to compare mine to? I'm not sure which version I have and if I should order the new achromat or not.
