Letus35 v/s G35?

I love the idea of plug'n'play G35 - and dont like support/rod based systems like M2.

Looks like Letus35 is similar to G35 (www.cinemek.com - G35s new home)

anyone has compared both? price / image quality / ease of use

Erik Rangel November 30th, 2005 03:36 PM

I've seen really great footage shot with both. I'd like to try the G35 and most likely will once it's available. As far as the differences this is what I've read/know so far.

Letus 35a, Guerilla35
$350, $1000+
Vibrating GG, Static GG (wax?)
58mm thread, 58mm thread

Theres more but it escapes me at the moment.

I think the G35 (or should it now be called C35?) shouldn't be classified as "58mm" mount. From what I see on their forums, the new one is larger.

Also at the camera end it has "adapter mounts" set up for 72mm, 58mm, etc. And I believe it's best to use their adapter mount to position the optics exactly where they should be, not just a regular ring. I see it also has some other neat features to do with dialling the camera in, but we'll have to wait and see.

...and quyen now has a 72mm version for an added $20.

letus35 - plastic lens mount
g35 - metal lens mount

letus35 - mine gets dirty a lot.. dust..
g35 - ???

anyone know if the fstop on the lenses need to be hacked to work on the g35 or if they work out of the box?

Aren't the Canon FD and Nikon "ground glass to flange" distances different?

Quyen Le November 30th, 2005 06:42 PM

Yes, 42 for Canon FD and 46.5 for Nikon AI, thanks.

I have LETUS35A. Some are talking about dust and dirt. I have not come across any issue with dirt so far and used it for a month.
