Phoenix Optics for Mini35
 

Hi,

I tried to find some manual lenses to fit with my potential
Mini35 buy and stumbled across the Phoenix optics.

They are really cheap and thus the question:
Anyone know if they are complete crap or could actually be used with
a mini35 adapter with sucess?

I've done some searches but didn't find anything helpful.

Anyone know of some other good optics to use with the mini35 with all
the manual controls that don't kill my budget totally?

Are those 35mm Cine lenses? Never heard of them.

Those look like SLR lenses. If you want to go SLR, I think there's no better bang for the buck than Nikon.

What Nikons do you recommend?
Is it possible to use Zoom lenses? What happens if I use a mattebox
with a zoom lens? The front moves right?

What about focus and iris control?

Andreas - look at my post to Tobias on the 300 series in the same forum. Many Nikon zoons [the newer ones - like the 80-200 f2.8] are pretty much internally focussing and zooming - so they don't extend. For a lot of other still lenses - they do and shorter zooms with aespheric elements do a LOT.

Get 3-4 good nikon primes and see how you go to start.

Nikon 85 1.4.

Hope that helps. I am also looking at getting a 135mm or a zoom.

What kind of codec does it use?
It was blank, So I guess I need the correct codec..

I JUST changed it. You will be able to wtach it now in Quicktime. I lowered the mb too, so its quick to download and its now 4.5 mb. If you still have problems let me know. Thanks

What camera Brian? Is it a 400 series?

Yes it is =)... I love it!

Cool. I heard the 400 series is miles ahead of the old 300 Mini35.
What camera did you use to shoot the clip?

I'm fairly certain that the fastest 24mm Nikkor is an f 2.
