What's the best 35mm adapter for a Sony HC1?
 

Any recommendations?

Looks small, so the Letus might not be the best choice. I'd say the Letus is only for larger cameras, so I'm suggesting the SG35, although others may have differing opinions.

Ben, from what I've read here and on the website, the SG35 appears to be more for larger cameras also. Nice footage though.

Dan, that looks like a great solution. But would probably be a bit beyond my budget :)

All of the SG35's original test footage was with a tiny 43mm Panasonic NV-DS30 and one of my customers will be using a 37mm Sony. I ship the unit with a direct thread size for the camcorder, in your case 37mm.

Hello Wayne, that sounds promising. Is any of the original test footage you mentioned still online to download anywhere?

A couple of other questions. Would it cost much to ship to Australia, and is your new support system included in the price?

Also, the HC1 is a bottom loading, but there's a guy on the HC1 forum here who's come up with this solution that I'm thinking of buying - http://cgi.ebay.com/Tripod-adapter-f...QQcmdZViewItem Any idea if a HC1 with one of these attached could still be fitted to the SG35 support?

Only problem i can see with that ebay solution, is if it offsets the tripod hole. My support currently depends on the tripod hole being centred in relation to the centre of the lens, on order to line up with the SG35 unit.

That works out to be around $530 (AU). Not too bad actually. I might think about buying one sometime. Well, once I've sold some of my old gear.

Good point about the bottom loading adapter too. The bottom loading tape mechanism isn't exactly a huge issue anyway.

The Panasonic clip looks quite nice too.

A couple of more questions. Is the overall system including the support quite heavy? If so, I was wondering if it could be mounted on one of these for handheld shooting? http://www.dvcreators.net/products/steadystick.html There's a downloadable movie on that page. My friend and his wife use one of these with their XL2, as it's a heavy camera to be carrying for long periods of time. Apparently it's a decent unit.

Also, can you think of any other solution to deal with the bottom loading tape mechanism? Ideally, if I had the camera connected to a 35mm adapter such as the SG35, I'd rather just leave it attached instead of having to remove it whenever I needed to change the tape.

I see no reason why that support wont work. I'll get you the weight of the rig later.

Ask about that ebay bottom loading solution, it maybe that it does not offset the tripod hole.

I was referring to the Letus' incompatibility with smaller cameras.
