should Focusing distance match?
 

I have mini35 with h1, and I use PL mount canon K35 lenses on it. I noticed that if you set the focus, by actually mesuaring the distance between the camera and the object, what you get is picture absolutelly, out of focus, and vice versa, if you focus with your eye, the distance doesn't show correctly. And I am not talking of a very small difference, I am talking about, when I have something in focus, and look at the lense, it shows that it is focused on 10 meters, while actually it is focused on 3 meters.

What could be the case here?

There are a few issues that could be the case. 1) are you sure you're reading meters not feet, because I'm not positive but I think 3 meter's is really close to 10 feet. 2) check the back focus 3) make sure you're measuring to the white line (I know that's not a 7 meter distance but it does make a difference) and 4) some lenses (Like the set of superspeeds we were using) have a focus ring that is adjustable, perhaps it became loose and someone mis adjusted it. IF possible see what the end of the lens is, is it infinity or does it stop short, or what the beginning is etc.

I vote for #1. It's too perfect.

levan I hope that's all the problem was, short of that though are you liking the K35 lenses?

Well, yes K35 lenses are nice. and yes, it was feet not meters, so thanks for the help.

NO problem, I'm looking at purchasing a mini 35 as well (depending on how the footage looks and what we can do to ge tthe grain out, and if that happesn the k35's look like a really good option.
