Example of a "straight Adapter" on a XL camera...
 

For those that would like to know what it looks like to use a direct 35mm lens adapter on your camera like this great one:

then this is what your image would look like using a regular 35mm lens compared to a 35mm camera/lens:

You may get only 2x zoom instead of 7x like you do with the 35mm adapter, but I am not sure.

So i've heard! If/When he completes this task...his adapter will be one of the most sought out adapters ever made. Considering how many XL cameras there are in the world and his reasonable prices!

I wasn't willing to pay more then 50 bucks for it. At that price point, I'd rather support a fellow DVINFO user/Entreprenuer "Mr. Queyen" and get his instead. Especially considering queyen's is lightweight plastic and not heavy steel like the other one was. The lighter the better. Plastic or Aluminum is best and queyen's is solid hard-plastic. I already was skeptical about that ebay one because of that.

Damn, sorry you lost that one. Yeah Quyen is good peoples, I have the Letus and the flip from him...waiting with great anticipation for the XL relay. By the way, very impressed with your site and body of work. Glad 2 see you eatin' in the ATL!

What does this device do exactly?

Its adapter that allows you to use canon lenses on the xl series but multipliest the focal length by a factor of 7.8. Some have theorized that with a short focal length you could use a lens as a relay if it can focus on an adapter ground glass. Matteo did it with the Z1 he hacked up producing some damn nice footage. For XL users it would reduce the light loss and certainly the weight. I thought about trying it, but since Quyen is going to rollout his relay, i'll just wait.

I tired it last year with the EF adpater from Canon and a 24mm Canon lens. It's really not any more practical than the stock 16x XL lens. The magnification that the EF adapter produces is so much that you have to have the GG practically as far from the camera body as it would just using the stock XL lens. Not sure about the other straight XL to 35mm adapters, but they're bound to be about the same.

I'm interested to see what Quyen has in store.
