48 Hour Film - Shot on Letus35 Flipped
 

Hey yall,

Here's the link to my 48 hour short film "House Of Blu"

The film was shot on the DVX100A with the Letus35 Flipped, using 28 and 50mm Nikon lenses. It was edited in Vegas 6, with a little help in After Effects.

This was for the Phoenix 48 hour challenge... www.thea3f.net

Here's the guidelines:
Length: 0-7min
Theme: Mistaken Identity
Line: "I don't think this is going to work."
Prop: Someone had to be watering a plant at some point during the movie.

I'll find out soon enough if I get anything for it.

I saw the video on "putfil" - *Excellently shot* I must say! Wonderful, a feast for the eye. The audio was decent too.. but the acting was absolutely dreadful. :( It stung my soul actually >.<

But, this is luckily a forum dedicated mostly to technical aspects, and your photo was flawless! Loved the postproduction work too, very rich on feeling. Maybe you emphasized the short DOF a little bit too much, too often, but if nothing else, it gave an eerie feeling that the actors could not provide if their lives were at stake ;)

Haha...something tells me Andreas didn't like the acting...

I have to agree with him though--the cinematography was great, but not everyone's an actor. :)

The production looked professional. It is good enough that if seen on a television people would not know it was not shot on film with a professional crew. The editing was also fairly well-paced and on the mark.

***DON'T READ THIS IF YOU DON'T WANT CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM***

I don't want to bring someone down if they aren't looking for ways to improve.

On the other hand, the dialog was rough which fed into the acting. There is no way to act your way out of cliche' dialog. It also did not flow like normal conversational language. The villian seemed like he was the sort of person that is killing people because his latte was served at the wrong temperature. There was no reasoning for his maliciosness shown. He did not emote anything, nor did he have any indications of pathology except for that he kills people. Anger, disgust, confusion, revenge, jealousy, greed, insanity are good motivations for murder. If it is just a game, why does he like playing the game?

The male cop's annoyance at having to get out of the car to storm the house seemed absurd. I don't think any cop would be blase' when storming a house.

I HATE when the credits are half the movie.

Yeah they weren't professional actors, but friends of one of the writers that I met the day of. The only stage actress that we had in there was the girl that was tied up.

It get screened tonight at the AMC theaters, I also find out if I get any awards.

I thought it looked really good for the most part. I didn't care for the coloration during most of the "inside" shots, but that's just my taste I suppose. The acting was ok. I've seen much worse. I also was a little miffed that the credits were the last half of the movie, but I guess if you had to hit 7 minutes that's one way to do it. :D Good work though, and best of luck on the screening tonight. Let us know how it goes please.

HAHA holy crap, that line, thats like, too hilarious, i wouldnt call it bad acting, thats just pure genius comedy. The way he repeats himself. oh man. good job. you made my night so far.

oh mother F .. hahaha. fire the cop guy! his acting is just cracking me up. or fire the guy who gave him those lines. haha. sorry, its just so much fun. everyone has to watch this.

I liked the editing, it was slick.

I thought the editing and camera angles were good. Acting was OK--it was a 48 hour filmfest after all.

So, how did you film those outdoor scenes without scaring the neighbors? Must've been a large crew and lots of equipment out there.

So a cop shoots a person and no call for backup or EMS? ;)
