Best GG for static adapter
 

Just looking for recommendations for gg for a static adapter. Reasonable noise is not an issue, im more interested in definition.

My best bet would be a plain matte Beattie Intenscreen for Contax RTS II (about $100).
Depends on what camera you use but it is worth the money. You don`t have to worry about PCX lenses in between optical path an so on. Many smaller cameras don`t even need any macros with it.

Only two issues to mention are that Beattie`s bokeh isn`t that nice like it is on real 35mm film and you must figure out how to place it so that it will align up with your camera`s field of view. Also Beattie must be handled with extreme care.

the beattie wouldnt look too great static would it?

Looked kinda great in Steev`s static one, if you dont mind little noise as mentioned. There`s always Optosigmas, AO5s and waxed ones...

The beattie has greasy bokeh, if you're a stickler about it (I am). Diffusion is a tricky thing; too much and you get massive light loss and grain. Too little and you're not diffusing it properly and you get ugly, undiffused out-of-focus images and bad bokeh. The beattie is somewhere in the middle but could definately use some more diffusion--it is in no way the perfect solution.

The Nikon D Screen is quite nice but impossible to find these days. I'm upset that I bought one about 6 months ago and sold the adapter to someone else for a steal.

Go35Pro seems to be one nice static adapter. Alltough it won't be available for a couple of months. It seems to have great (if not perfect) diffusion and bokeh with reasonable light loss. Jim has been talking about one stop wich for me is a very reasonable price to pay for good bokeh.

EDIT: if you are looking for the perfect DIY solution, I would say it's the wax screen. They are unbelievably hard to make but if you succeed you can make great results.

I've heard complaints about light loss with the wax screen. And yeah, the beattie has grain when static, I wouldn't use it without some kind of movement going on.

thread about kilo35 and lately posted katzeye gives at least for me idea where to go with static adapters.
