It is quite possible that the fresnel, when turned to the front, still prevents some of the hotspot. If I may say so, awsome find Mark!

I will probably order two or three of these screens from the States to experiment, or do you know any European source?

I've just snatched up a wideangle zoom lens (Angenieux) for Arri 16mm at ebay for an unbelievable price. Planning on building a 16mm lens -> Sony FX1 adapter.

If it all works, I can have a semi-shallow DOF with a fully open lens.

I had this idea quite some time but your awesome find made me finally take it past the drawing board.
