HD100 Letus35 w/ Scene Files

Aloha,

I did some tests today with my HD100 and Letus35flip. I added some of the different scene files settings found on this site and shot the same thing to see how they looked. These are all shot with a Nikon 55mm lens at f2 in 720p24. Captured in LumiereHD and converted to 720p24 DVCProHD, and edited in FCP 5. I used Tim Dashwood's "Bleach Bypass", "Filmvert", "Reversal", and Paulo Ciccone's "True Color v3".

This one is large stills of each setting. Just go through frame by frame:

If you want to watch all the setting play side by side, use this one:
http://www.scottleemason.com/letus/H...raSettings.mov

This is the largest file. It is all the looks playing back to back.

Just thought I would share my test. I like all these looks for different things.

I agree that each is usefull for different things as well. I am a big fan of the Film Vert because of it's Desaturated looks, but lately I have been enjoying Paolo's True Color 3 because in post I can always throw out extra color.

All are cool though.

how much light loss and image degradation is there with the letus35flip?

Dustin Cross July 21st, 2006 08:23 AM

Amos,

1.5 stops of light loss with the Letus35flip.

To get this number I shot a chart with both the stock lens and with the adapter and Nikon lens at f2. I used the camera zebras to set the white box on the chart to 100ire with both set-ups. I then compared the difference between the f-stop on the Fujinon lens.

With the Fujinon lens at f5.6 with no adapter, when I put the adapter on the camera I needed to open the iris on the Fujinon lens to a little more than f4, but not qute f2.8.

I haven't done much with resolution testing, but I think I was loosing about 100 lines of resolution when I did.

Dusty, how did you get the Letus35? I went to the Letus35 website. There it states that the adapter for the HD100 is still under development. Are you beta testing?

Dustin Cross July 23rd, 2006 02:44 PM

Oscar,

My Letus35flip is a 72m screw on adapter that will work with almost any camera. Just send Quyen an e-mail and he will sell you one.

I am beta testing the Letus35HD100 which mounts directly to the body of the JVC and replaces the stock lense. Quyen currently has my Letus35HD100 for some modifications.

Dusty- Please keep us posted on the developments with your Letus HD adapter-hopefully some footage to post? Could you also put up a pic of the rig? Thanks!

Do you have a photograph of the letus35 mounted directly to the body? I'm curious about the dimensions... but I'd also just like to see it.

Thanks for testing. If it comes out making excellent video, I hope to purchase one. Looking forward to seeing more.
