Nikon (DOF adaptor) mount for all (smaller) cameras

I just wanted to let everyone know that we have made quite few so called breakthroughs lately: Now our vibrating screen holder fits cheap Nikon extension/macro tubes too resulting in industry standard 58mm male threads on the backside that led us to Nikon bayonet mount adaptor to fit your camcorder filter threads. One extremely good thing is that cheap Nikon extension tubes with inner diametre of ca 55mm come with very tight lens mount, that means without any play in it. As EOS mount for example has little play in it.

Feel free to be exited as it even aligns with the centre of the SLR lens.

This setup would be extremely useful for cameras with smaller filter threads because one can leave the Nikon bayonet mount on all the time and use even 58mm threaded 0.45x wide angle and tele conversion lens with it. Or flower lens hood. Not to mention Cokin P series filter holder and all it`s accesories like gradual ND filters, polarizes and bellows matteboxes.
Then imagine a pimed out GS500 with Nikon bayonet on it ;)...

This is one set of macro tubes screwed straight to standard step down ring that doesn`t align* SLR lens with camera but shows the overall look. Should you add a powerful achromat and that`s how your DIY dof adapter would look on HVX200.

Damn, what if that would work with upcoming Sony V1 too.

I think that this bayonet mounting system can be used even with the Brevis cause it had something like 58mm threads on it as I recall?

What would that cost? Just purchase another set (that makes two sets if used for building DOF adaptor) of cheap Nikon macro tubes and apropriate stepping ring and off you go!
If someone wants to know which exact tubes those are then it should have "JIN SHE JIE QUAN" written on the white box with blue stripe.
E-Bay and online photography stores retail those tubes.

Higher end of low-tech.

Cheers,
T

align* - focusing mark on the top of the SLR lens would not be on top, just a cosmetic and a bit ergonomic issue.

How bayonet flange itself is produced? Is it taken from photocamera?

Frank, Nikon bayonet mount just screws off the macro tubes.
There is male lens mount in the one end of the tubes and female at the other end so those tubes are great source for nikon mounts with 58mm threads.

oh, i'm sorry, i missed that part from Your first post. Can You tell the price of that thing?

Toenis Liivamaegi October 3rd, 2006 05:54 AM

Price should be no more than $20.98 per set of tubes incl insured shipping to EU.
We got ours from eBay store "buyitjnow"

There is available tubes for Canon as well, price about the same. Only one thing is what i'm not sure. Do those have lens lock capability?

Toenis Liivamaegi October 3rd, 2006 09:01 AM

Yes Fank, those Canon EOS tubes have lens lock capability.

As of today we have designed our vibration units so that they would fit both: 55mm inner diametre of nikon tubes and 57mm inner diametre EOS tubes. The good universal thing about EOS tubes is that EOS mount can take almost any SLR lens Nikon included but not vice versa.

EOS mount unfortunately cann`t take FD lens by nature but that can be fixed with sacrificing EOS versality: Just buy FD to EOS adapter, pop out the optics and get flange to focal distance right.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but want to know

I bought a Jin She Jie Quan macro extension tube from ebay (not the same seller above) which looks very similar but the thread between spacers appears to be 57mm. Is there another way to distinguish one from another or is this some QA variation? The box I have doesn't have any other english to give a clue. It's also a white and blue box with a white stripe in the blue area.
