Stacked Macro filter?
 

Hi. I uses a Sony PD-170 and my budget is very limited. I can barely afford a $60 macro lens.
So is Canon 250D have enough power to fill the canon ee-s screen on PD-170?
If I need more power. Is it a good idea to stack a Hoya +4 with Canon 250D? Will I suffer much image degradation?

+4 Hoya may do it. Adaptor will be about 8 inches (200mm) from groundglass to front of PD170.

Is the Hoya one piece of glass?

When you stack lenses made from one piece of glass you get a not good image. It will be not sharp in corners. Colours separate in corners of frame. This problem is "chromatic aberration". For easy speak, it is called "CA".

This problem you see on an edge. A tree branch in bright sky will have wrong colours on one edge.

The achromatic dioptre lens does not cause this problem. An achromatic dioptre is made with two pieces of glass in one lens. Sometimes this lens will be called a "doublet"

Some people try to use lenses from large binoculars for acromatic dioptres.

I have the VX2000, and have built my own adapter. I've tried stack closeup lenses, as well as ordered a +10 diopter lens from BH. The results, in limited situations can be okay, but there is so much problem at the edges that you will likely not be satisfied with the result.

If you check out Redrocks achromat, I think they have a SD acromat that for around $160USD. See:

What about stacking an achromat with a single element macro?

Or how about the binocular achromat? I think their optical quality are not bad. Since anything related to camera are usually overpriced.
