Case Study using SGpro
 

My SGpro came a few weeks ago, i shot this last week, took literally 10 minutes to shoot, and one take only.

Its easy to laugh at the subject in the clip, but once you realise what he has been through you will discover he has overcome so many barriers the last few years, he should be praised for having the confidence to talk about his situation. He's now working with us on our radio project and doing really well.

Some contructively meant critisism;
First of all, I think the sgpro makes it look better than it would've looked with just the bare cam, also considering the cam you used.
I didn't think the subject was laughable at all, people who are serious and honest about their problem and adress you direct are not quickly laughed at.
About the music; I assume you wanted it to be upbeat instead of dramatic (which I understand seeing the content), but I didn't think it suited the context very well, and after a minute it became very repetitive, which is even worse. I don't know if you have to work with cheap stock music or anything like that but there might be room for improvement.

But considering the time and resoures you had at hand, very good job!

RE: music, I take your point. It was the first thing i got my hands on after the shoot. I have hundreds of CD's full of stock music, and most of it is complete rubbish to be honest. Most stock music makes films sound like adverts for Daz, Kwik Save or Poundstretcher.

The soundtrack/audio is not important here anyway, it was just my first try out to see results with the SGpro. Both the camera and adaptor performed very well.

Ya, I agree, the music is really bad for the piece. It adds to your fears of taking it lightly. Throw something off and ambient on there or maybe even just look at really polishing the sound mix bc what I really want is to hear him talk. I could hardly do that.

Very nice, and I didn't think the subject was laughable as well, quite the opposite in fact. The music didn't bother me, I started listening to the story and didn't really paid attention to the music. The second time around, I did wish the music would be toned down a notch.

The adapter definitely helps deliver a nice filmic look. For me though, I think the piece would benefit from a few more cutaways - particularly to cover up when the contributor is looking off camera, as this makes him look shifty.

Just my 10p worth.
