Vision III system
 

I've never posted on this particular board before, but I thought this would be the appropriate place for this.

We had the owner of Vision III Imaging come out here to our production site today to demo one of his systems for our broadcast of tomorrows Duke @ UNC game. Here's the companies site: www.inv3.com . I watched them set it up and run tests and I was curious as to whether or not anyone at home would notice the system being used.

Please don't ask me to explain what the system does, I honestly don't know all the specifics, but the site will explain more about it.

If you want to see what the actual footage looks like then watch the game tomorrow on cbs, 4pm est. The system is being used on one of our hand held cameras under a basket. I believe it's the right side basket but I'm not sure. Anyway, if you have a high def tv and reception you should notice a difference between that camera and the one on the other side. For sd I'm not sure that it would make a noticable difference.

The unit he brought is a specially configured broadcast lens with a box behind the iris. Again, I'm not sure of the details but I thought that someone on this board would like to take a look at the broadcast and see if they notice anything different and if the lens really creates a 3d effect.

If anyone watches the game and could let me know I'd appreciate it. I'll be busy working my own camera so I won't have a chance to look at it.

Being totally honest, I couldn't either! I have a 13" sd monitor for my program feed and I couldn't see any difference from that camera and the other. Sorry I wasted your time bringing this up! I had seen some demo material and in a situation where the camera itself is moving, the footage had layers to it and the effect was there. It seems like when the camera is stationary you can't see any difference at all. I know I couldn't.
