35mm adapter list
 

Hey guys, I'd like to put together a master list of all the 35mm adapters out there as a DVinfo resource. If you want to help, could you please post names, websites, prices and any technical info or notes you want to add?

I'd like to see some kind of list/chart happen, so I hope it's still in the works.

When I first started seriously thinking about buying an adapter, I came here to reeducate myself on where the technology had advanced to since the point that I'd first heard about them. I read a ton of threads here and still couldn't figure out what was what. I kept reading about adapters that don't seem to exist anymore, or following links to webpages that don't exist etc.

There are still comparison details that seem ambiguous to me. Light loss, clarity, vignetting etc. The shoot-out thread and webpages helped, but even those comparisons seemed somewhat limited (although 1000 times better than the shoot out that I found at dvxforums, which seemed to compare two problematic units. The dvx shoot out only succeeded in convincing me that 35mm adapters are a complete waste of money because they both looked so bad)

In any case, I'm now convinced that the brevis is the best in class, but there are times I wonder if it's only because Dennis is the only person talking about his product. I think having a master list with current production status listed and links to information would be really great.

I hadn't posted any info in the past because I assume that anything I happen to know about this topic is already known by others but, that being said, I figured I'd just list the 35mm adapters I've heard about.

I'm not even sure that all of these still exist or ever existed, but I think adding all of them to a list and saying "this doesn't exist" would be better than leaving them off. That way people looking for information would at least know which projects are dead in the water.

Letus, Brevis, SGPro, Guerilla35(?), Go35(?), Snod, RedRock, Cinedof(?), Mini35, Digi35(?)

What have I missed?

I assume you only want the ones which are commercialised. If the published amateur builds are to be included there is of course Agus Casse's original sanded CD-R disk plus CD-R case plus lens mount and lens - the very first, which became named and not by Agus Casse himself, as the AGUS35.

Then there was one of the divergent stream of fixed groundglass experimentation, which became named the ALDU35.

I'd say to also include those which were to be commercialized, but never panned out. I don't know which ones these might be, but I know I spent a lot of time looking for info on products that don't really seem to exist.

Daniel your adapter looks awesome. That looks like a real professional piece of equipment, if your results look as good as the adapter count me in.
