I am using the XL2 and am thinking about getting a GL2 as a second camera to capture B-roll and what not. I am using Adobe Premiere Pro 2 to edit.

Is it important to make sure record settings such as FPS and shooting mode (16:9 and or 4:3) match so that they don't conflict during editing? What I don't want is a different "look and feel" when using footage from the GL2.

Forgive me if this a dumb question but is the 16:9 mode on the GL2 the same as on the XL2?

Thanks a whole lot.

I could be wrong, but I believe that the 16:9 on the XL2 doesn't stretch the footage, wherein the GL2 does.

The XL-2 has native 16:9 dimensions, the GL2 uses letterbox. I don't believe mixing both will give any problems though. Furthermore both cameras are quite alike I believe when it comes to colours etc.

Having used both cameras, I'd say you'll do ok in 4:3 as the resolution difference between the two cameras is minimal. But in 16:9 the XL2's resolution will leave the GL2 in the dust. Certainly CAN be done, but you'll have to do some processing (mainly softening the XL2's image) as there will be quite apparent differences in resolution.

so shooting 16:9 with the GL2 lowers resolution?

You throw away top and bottom of the picture and stretch out, the XL-2 doesn't do that (it's full frame).
