So, I just won a gift card from Best Buy and (thank the lawd) they sell Apple stuff.

Would buying two of these (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8221453&st=2gb+ddr2+ram&lp=10&type=product&cp=1&id=1166236338366) work? They seem to have the same specs as the Mac Pro ram (http://crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=Mac%20Pro%20%284-core%29).

I'd be careful buying ram. The Mac Pros come in different flavors, dual and quad core, and require RAM with particular thermal ratings, if memory serves me correctly. Also, it's best to buy RAM that is "Apple Certified" to avoid any warrant issues.

Other World Computing and Crucial are well-respected purveyors of Mac Ram. You won't go wrong with them. Best Buy....not so sure!

I would agree with the crucial recommendations, I upgraded a friends MacBook Pro with crucial ram and it has been perfectly stable.

I'm buying a Mac Pro and some extra RAM You may already be aware of this, but just to prevent any potential "why didn't anybody tell me this?" kind of cries, it is widely expected that Apple will offer updated Mac Pro computers soon after Intel rolls out their new Penryn processors in the second week of November.

I am not saying it is wrong to buy now - only you can decide that - but you may want to factor it into your decision.
