From a videoshop that sells Canon video cameras I was told that Canon would come out with a new camera at NAB. The salesperson said he was not given much info but HE thought the new camera would compete with the Sony EX1 and Sony Z7.

This would be what I am looking for since I have 2 Canon A1's and want to add one more camera that does better in low light. I was thinking of buying the Sony EX1 but it might not match to well with my A1s. This camera would be a much better fit.

Just thought I pass it along. We will know in a couple of weeks.

That’s only if the camera that Canon is replacing is the XH-A1/G1 and personally I don’t know if that will be replaced at NAB but I guarantee you that theirs a much, much better chance of seeing Canon replacing the XL-H1 at NAB because its older.

In idea for Canon would have been to somehow combine the XH-A1/G1 with the XL-H1 so that you can either use the camera handheld or on your shoulder.

Hopefully they introduce a flash recording system at the same time, similar to the sony's - that would be nice. I don't see them replacing the GL2 - seems like the A1 is pretty similar - so my guess is the H1 as well, and maybe it'll shoot 2K or something. Who knows, but I bet it'll be cool.
