I'm going to be shooting a "How to Surf Video" on the beach and will be using my GL2. Can anyone offer some tips or tricks to pull this shoot off without a hitch.
Any settings or modes to shoot in?

Some of my ideas are so far:
-Need to shoot in the morning light, not at the harsh noon.
-Need to use a wireless lavalier mic.

is the wireless lav waterproof?
Also get a raincover for the sand and saltwater. you can also try a shotgun mic with those dishes that you see during football games to pickup the huddle talk. That might be better than a lav mic if that person is in the water.

Na, the filmed lesson will be on the beach no where near the water. So as for water proof stuff, I don't think I will need it.
Sand and stray water will be thwarted by simple use of towels and plastic bags if things get a little too windy.

Early morning is definately the go on the west coast of the USA. I would also use a polarizer to help pop your colours a little more. Use auto white balance as the colour temp changes very quickly during early morning/late afternoon. Let me know when you finish as I'd like to see your work. Might help me inspire my wife to learn to surf!!!!

I will be shooting in San Diego in late August. Do any of you have any experience with wireless mics?
Are there any good video/audio stores in the orange county area?

Scott -

As far as I have found, there is a limited number of audio / video places in OC.

Most of them do not specialize in A/V stuff.

Here is a mini list:

ProMax - Irvine

A/V Partners - Irvine or Santa Ana - Specializing in A/V stuff - they moved.

Mic Works - Costa Mesa - EVERYTHING audio

Sam Ash - Westminister - Not too good for video people.

- I have numbers if you need.

-Hope it helps.

(Don't want to step on the board's sponsors toes, but he needed a local store)
