Some interesting rumors about the next generation of Apple laptops....

http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/08/07/28/apples_next_gen_macs_to_have_something_special_under_the_hood.html

people familiar with these plans say an upcoming generation of Macs, lead by a trio of redesigned notebooks, won't adopt the Montevina chipset announced as part of Intel's Centrino 2 mobile platform earlier this month. What's more, those same people suggest the chipset employed by the new wave of Macs may have little or nothing to do with Intel at all. (This should not be confused with the primary CPU, which will continue to come from Intel.)

The trackpad is glass, multi-touch and uses gestures. The screen isn’t multi-touch.

Okay.. perhaps, but doesn't affect anything really! Neat to read about though, thanks for sharing.

I'd really like to see a partnership with nVidia. With a good 9600M GT card the new Macbooks would run everything silky smooth.

Funny how things move so quickly as I have just purchased a new MBP 17" as my main editing machine with the Intel chip.
Will be interesting to see the next roll out.

The new multifunction chips coming out replace several chips. Simpler and less expensive.
