Completely idle speculation on my part, but... wouldn't it be cool to take the 1/2" chips, 35mbps and tapeless workflow of Sony's EX1, and put it in a HD200/250 mini-shoulder mount form factor with industry-standard battery and lens mounts? Voila! The HD300?

Be still my beating heart. Add 422 colour space as native, please.

it would be very cool. I'd also like it to be not as long.. that thing sticks out pass the operator in the back way to much, there has to be a better way to to balance it with out making it that long.

Oh, and I'd also like an integrated wireless receiver slot, just like my old BetaSX camera did at CBC - powered by the camera battery with internal audio routing via a switch, rather than patched into the XLR's with a cable.

A bit bigger than the HD200... , but yeah, you're basically right. Maybe some competition from JVC to knock the price down a bit?
