Is there a problem trying to dump tapes coming out of the 110U using Sony M15U's or M25U's?

yeah they play but you only get it over the component outs.

someone mentioned there is no timecode either in that method.

24p won't play at all. just as the sony decks won't play canon 24f either.

so should I grab a BD50 the JVC deck? Already have the 15u's and a 25 so as to cap without a camera?

I dont understand why Sony can have a whole line of HDV decks with a whole bunch of different price tags going as low as $1,500. and JVC only has one which has way more features than most folks need and cost like $3,000. Why they can release a player only version of the BR-HD50 for like $1,500 is beyond me.

no more tapes no decks needed.

yeah fred if you do a lot of jvc work, get the jvc companion deck.

I use all of the features but yeah its pretty expensive. I think I paid $ 4,200
for mine when it just came out.

my beef with the disk recorders are the odd issues some people have
once in awhile with screwed up audio or corrupted files. A Disk
based system should be flawless all of the time like XDCAM. For that reason
I won't use that method.

That works if you don't need the long term archiving for just "pennies a glass" that shooting tape gives you.

I'm on the OTHER side of this saying, "Wow, too bad they didn't include..."

Yeah, me too. Like 1080i out over firewire from the deck would be very handy for me, as would sdi in/out. And a wee lcd monitor would be handy too!

Well with my budget and 2 GY-HD100s with blown Firewire ports that will cost $1,500 each to fix. Id like to see a affordable "player only" just to feed my NLE. I cant ever see going tapless with these cameras the Firewires are just too flimsy. I think im just going to fix one camera and use it as my deck.

I have a 110u and am thinking about going tapless with a fire store. I having issues with my FCP saying it cant communicate with the camera. It will grab 10 seconds and then I'll either get a dropped frame message or that it cant communicate... I think going tapless would solve this issue. Will going tapless solve this?

It just seems like issue after issue with HDV and the 110u. Is anyone else having this issue?
