Ok, I've attached the lens hood, but now if I want to stop using the camcorder, is there another cap that I can put on? Or can I still use the existing lens cap? I just want to protect the lens after use.... do you guys usually store the gl2 WITH the lens hood on after use in a bag or without it? I just want to set on the lens hood and forget it, rather than unscrewing it each time I want to put away the camcorder...also, can you use UV filters + a lens cap?

The lens hood shoud remain mounted at all times unless you have a specific reason for doing otherwise (such as using an accessory lens). The hood does not interfere with the use of the lens cap, which should be on the lens when not in use. Just reach in and pop it on.

Standard depth filters with threading on the inside of the outer rim edge should accommodate the lens cap with no trouble.

Hmm... I've just ordered a B+W 58mm 010 MRC Filter from B&H. Do you know if this can be used with the lens cap?

Are there also any things done to protect the viewfinder? Any cap for that?

David,

Never seen anyone put a cap on the viewfinder. It would be pretty tough to scratch considering the protection the rubber eye cup provides.

On the other hand, protecting the LCD is not a bad plan. Stick on protectors that are marketed for PDA's work well on a LCD also. Provides a base level of protection and a writing surface (only very gently with soft tip pens) if you need it for framing ect.

There is no problem to put on the lens cap with B+W filter. I use the exact same filter to protect my GL2.
