I've been a very happy JVC GZ-HD7 user for 2 years. I was just getting ready to purchase a second one to add to my collection for projects that require 2 cameras. However, I see now that the HD7 is discontinued.

Can anyone recommend a similar camera that will perform like the HD7? I really liked the size of the HD7 (it was still a small camera, but was bulkier than most of the tiny little cameras out now). I like the focus ring and manual controls on it. I also like the HDD recording, but other formats are okay.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a camera that will be similar to the HD7 and in the $500-$1000 price range?

I have a GZ-HD7 that I bought last December. I no longer use it though, in the last 6 months I've gone totally to doing live events and that requires DV or HDV over firewire.

I have 3 OEM batteries with it and it is in great condition. PM if interested.
