Not so new GL-2 owner:

When I record from: the field, interior or from another VTR the subjects skins appear RED. How can I correct this?

Recording through the lens and through an analog connection are very separate issues. Regarding the latter, I don't know. It will depend on what's sending the material into the GL2 and what condition the material is in.

Regarding normal recording, be sure to set your white balance correctly and accurately. If that still produces too warm an image, use your color saturation controls to adjust to taste.

I remembered to white balance just last night before taping a mail in audition for a young lady. I was very impressed with the color. Plan to post some picks as soon as I'm finished editing.

Here is a video frame of a female singer who had me do her audition video for the Gospel guy Bobby Jones. I fortunately remembered to white balance. I turned off all the churches neon lights and used two of my own halogen lights with barn doors to help confine the light around her. Could have used a third fill light though. Anyone know where I could get a cheap one with barn doors?

I think you're right about a third lamp. It needs a bit of backlight from top left of image. I'd even be tempted to put some 1/2 blue on it to give a colder edge which would emphasize the warmer colours in the wood etc.
I think that Lowell do a clip-on set of barn doors for Par lamps. That would do the trick.
Also, have a look at my posting under "Lighting" on this page. If you can get to an IKEA store in the US, try and buy the projector lamp I mentioned. You could even have thrown some window patterns in the background with it.
