Hi,

I just received a message that the GL2 was tested by http://www.dv.com/

Let's discuss this review please.

Thanks,

Dirk

Bruce Johnson is a good reviewer. I always appreciate his reports. Last December at DV Expo in L.A., I gave Bruce a ride back to his hotel from the DV-L party in a bar near the Biltmore.

Basically, Bruce doesn't like the MA-300, which makes sense, because he doesn't like the similar XLR placement on the Sony PD-150. And he wonders how useful the side-mounted VU meters are (when the LCD and EVF meters should suffice in his opinion). I don't know, I guess the side-mounted VU meters are helpful on a locked down camera.

Seems like a fair review.

I can see the audio meters being useful if you're doing some kind of interview where the camera doesn't need to move.

Can't comment on the ma-300 cause I don't have it yet, but I'll need it soon :)

I thought is was a fair review too except that I believe the MA-300 is an accessory and the audio meters aren't doing anyone wrong by being there. Since these where his only remarks I think the camera deserved a half a star more so
that it could have been rewarded the title of "product of excellence" instead of just "recommended".

I didn't find Bruces review as in depth as I would have liked. If you haven't seen the Videosmith review go to http://digitaljournalist.org/issue0208/cameracorner.htm

I found their review more informative. I'm still waiting for a real resolution test. Craig
