I do not have a all-weather cover. Should I be very careful with my camera in the rain, or will it be fine for a couple minutes if it is dried off right after....

or can i go ghetto and use a plastic bag. ha

I wouldn't chance it! - But then again, and i don't know this, I may not have as much disposable cash as you!

Go ghetto - it worked for me. I just got a plastic bag. Cut a hole in the end, and taped the hole over my XM2 lens hood so nothing got in. Then out my hand in the open end and voila. Although don't expect to get sound - it will be totally worthless with all the rustling, unless you can get some sort of waterproof cloth which might not be as bad.

I was only in light rain though, so wouldn't have risked a downpour of any length. And if I did this for a living/regularity I'd get a proper raincover.
