After some searches on the subject, I suppose this question is probably one any experienced FCP person would know, presumably intuitively. However, I do not. I followed several pieces of advice on the benefits of the "FCP Rescue" app, generously designed and offered by a fellow (but clearly more proficient) user. While I've not experienced many of the same "preferences horrors" that I've read about for some years, nonetheless I downloaded this as a precaution. I placed it on my desktop and thought I would use it "one day."
I subsequently read several admonitions of its use as a preventative measure and so decided to "backup" my prefs. As there is no "help" section, (I did check the somewhat limited information at the Apple download site and others I searched, including the app's author), I clicked on the "Backup" target and poof, I heard the slightly unsettling sounds of things having been tossed, without my conscious direction, into the trash. When I launched FCP, my current project was gone and my prefs were as I had left them last. Needless to say, I've not done anything else.
OK, so what did I or did I not, do here? What do I look for? What is the order?
I found a copy of my project, of course, as I have several, assiduously updated, in different locations...but I would really like to know the logical steps for the use of this seemingly very helpful and simple application. Thanks.
