This is what the error message is.

media server application unexpectedly quit.

Working on a large file, 2.5 hours for a dual layer disk. This is being rendered on a mini mac with the new FCP studio.. FCP 5, Compressor 4. OS tiger.

Any help would be geatly appreciated.

Several of us have mentioned some problems with this in another thread. If I were you, I'd live with the workaround. Just export a QT Reference Movie and export the .m2v file from QuickTime. FWIW, I usually do 2-pass variable between 7.1 and 8.1 and never have a problem with quality or compatibility. I've gone as low as 5.1 for longer format stuff and it still looked pretty good.

Let's hope we get a little repair upgrade soon on all the apps. Nothing big, but lots of bugs.

error -1309 is the result of the QuickTime export to m2v from the reference movie. Takes a long time to try any of these work arounds. Can you give me the address of the other thread you spoke of. I can't seem to find it... Thank you again.. kene
