I'd like to purchase a Pro 6 Key that would unlock my QT Player 6.0.1 but Apple doesn't seem to be selling 6 Keys any more. Any ideas as to where I could find a Pro 6 Key that would work with my version of QT? Thank you.

(BTW, I do not want to upgrade my QT Player.)

Thank you.

Interesting problem... QT Pro 6 was included with FCP HD 4.5, Motion 1.0 and possible other programs. Do you have any of these? Or perhaps you know someone who has upgraded to FCP 5, Motion 2 or QT 6 who might give you their old copy?

I will give you the rights to my 6.x license as I use 7.x now... Should be perfectly legal too. Anyone know otherwise?

From the Quicktime Pro 7 license on Apple's website:

http://www.apple.com/legal/sla/quicktime7.html

3. Transfer. You may not rent, lease, lend or sublicense the Apple Software. You may, however, make a one-time permanent transfer of all of your license rights to the Apple Software to another party, provided that: (a) the transfer must include all of the Apple Software, including all its component parts, original media, printed materials and this License; (b) you do not retain any copies of the Apple Software, full or partial, including copies stored on a computer or other storage device; and (c) the party receiving the Apple Software reads and agrees to accept the terms and conditions of this License.

Guys, thank you both for replying. Mark, thank you for offering to help me out. A friend of mine just upgraded to QT 7 and so he gave me his Pro 6 Key. Thanks again.

How does a user get QT 6 (whatever versions) as Apple only posts the newest version- how do we go back and get the older versions?

Well that was the point of Stylianos' original post: you can't buy QT6 keys from Apple anymore. If you have Motion 1.0 or FCP 4.5 then QT6 and a pro key were included on the original disks however.

If you want the standard (no pro) version of QT 6.5.2 you can also download it here:

http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/quicktime652.html

Earlier versions of QT 6 are here:

Also, if you need to downgrade from QT7 to QT6 you can use this reinstaller:

http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/quicktime652reinstallerforquicktime701.html

Finally, if you puchased a QT Pro key but it isn't working any more, you can retrieve it using the procedure outlined here:
