I have been in the market for a Canon Gl-2 for quite some time now, and just recently I have accquired the neccesary funds to get the camera and accessories, and I am looking for a few things in particular. I want to get a decent tripod, xlr adapter/mic input, wide angle lens, long lasting battery, and if any of you have suggestions of other accessories for the gl2 please post. I have about $5500 to work with. I will mainly be shooting short films, documentaries, music videos, etc..

EDIT: Also this camera I want to take on with me to college, so is the gl2 a best bet for the future or would I be better off going with the xl1s?

Batteries... lots of batteries and a good dual charger. Try to get one that also has a car adapter. Other than that, I suggest a good filter kit, lighting and or reflectors, and a selection of mics.

Get the Sennheiser me66 w/Beachtek DXA-10 or dxa 8 (for xlr and phantom power), cannon .7 wide lens, and a couple 6000mah power2000 bp945 batteries. That will start you off coting around $1100

THis Kind of ties in with my last post, but which camera is better for someone who wants to use it through college?

Accessories would be more affordable for the GL, and it would be easier/cheaper to use.
