I'm having trouble getting Premiere to import SD video from FCP. I tried a few ways:
1. Quicktime (won't import)
2. Quicktime converstion as an AVI using DV compression. (imports but red line with no visible video).
3. Quicktime converstion as DV Stream (imports red line)

Why is Premiere having a problem? I used DV compression for all the exports.

Silly question but do the sequence settings match the clip you're importing? So far I haven't had any issues importing a clip that originated from FCP including as SD clip from a Sony handycam (man those old vids look like crap!) without issue.

You could also check the clip itself to make sure none of the resource forks are broken; if you have a copy of either DiskWarrior or Digitial Rebellions FCP Maintenance Pack either one of those can diagnose clip-specific problems.

I figured it out.

I needed to install Quicktime pro on the window machine. Even exporting as an avi must still be a quicktime and Premiere doesn't have the ability by itself to import anything wrapped in quicktime even if its compressed using the DV codec.
