Unless you need the capability to change lens (which cost thousands of dollars), or want to use the expensive mini-35 adapter (also $$$), the DVX100A is usually the choice of most indie filmmakers. The XL1s and DVX100A have totally different ergonomics. Many would say this is as important a factor as any technical feature. You are best served by actually testing both cameras yourself before you buy.
