View Full Version : embedding a video in a DVinfo post

Apologies for being a forum newbie. I can't figure out how to embed a video in a DVinfo, and I couldn't find anything about video in the DVinfo BB FAQ (IMG was the closest). I'm trying these, but nothing works yet:

entering "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8nc8twpCmms" returns a link, not an embedded video:
YouTube - DIY101 quick release plate feedback (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8nc8twpCmms)

My BB code attempts also haven't been sucessful:

Any help is appreciated!

You aren't doing anything wrong, YouTube videos won't embed on this forum.

Upload your videos to Vimeo and it is simply a matter of copying and pasting the URL

Thanks for the reply!

That's a bummer about youtube. Vimeo seems to screw up the sync between the audio and the video.

Regardless, I still can't get it to work. When I paste "http://vimeo.com/15695988", then I get a link:

Weird... I'm not sure why that is...

Hm. I thought you needed to use the embed code they give you but that just results in what's below.

<iframe src="http://player.vimeo.com/video/15695988" width="400" height="300" frameborder="0"></iframe><p><a href="http://vimeo.com/15695988">Quick Release inputs for new juicedLink DIY101</a> from <a href="http://vimeo.com/user478153">Robert Rozak</a> on <a href="http://vimeo.com">Vimeo</a>.</p>

<object width="400" height="300"><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="movie" value="http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=15695988&amp;server=vimeo.com&amp;show_title=1&amp;show_byline=1&amp;show_portrait=1&amp;color=00A DEF&amp;fullscreen=1&amp;autoplay=0&amp;loop=0" /><embed src="http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=15695988&amp;server=vimeo.com&amp;show_title=1&amp;show_byline=1&amp;show_portrait=1&amp;color=00A DEF&amp;fullscreen=1&amp;autoplay=0&amp;loop=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always" width="400" height="300"></embed></object><p><a href="http://vimeo.com/15695988">Quick Release inputs for new juicedLink DIY101</a> from <a href="http://vimeo.com/user478153">Robert Rozak</a> on <a href="http://vimeo.com">Vimeo</a>.</p>

Here's the deal with that:

1. This forum -- DVi Announcements -- does not allow embedding. That's why it's not working here.

2. The direct Vimeo URL is all you need. There is no other embedding code.

3. Video embedding on DVi works for Vimeo clips only.

4. I've put Robert's video in our Sponsors forum. You can see the player embedded there:

http://www.dvinfo.net/forum/great-deals-dv-info-net-sponsors/485925-quick-release-inputs-new-juicedlink-diy101.html#post1577375

5. Robert, if you want that video posted somewhere else (other than
DVi Announcements, of course), just use the Report Post function
(it's the little "!" icon to the left of the post) and say where you want
it to go. Hope this helps,
